Area S8 is known as the towns and developments that are South East of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. This includes many of many different sizes. They are: Allan, Beaver Creek, Blackstrap, Bradwell, Casa Rio, Clavet, Colonsay, Corman Park, Dundurn, Elbow, Elstow, Furdale, Grasswood, Hanley, Kenaston, Outlook, Riverside Estates, Sunset Estates, Viscount, and Watrous.
Out of the towns listed here the ones that most people tend to commute from are: Clavet, Dundurn, and Colonsay. Watrous is worth mentioning though as it is home of the Watrous Mineral Spa with more sea salt than the Dead Sea. It is a great place to visit for healing and relaxation.
Casa Rio, Riverside Estates, Sunset Estates, Corman Park are not towns but developments. These developments range from entry level homes and acreages to multi-million dollar homes. Developments such as Casa Rio are excellent for people that want to be close to the city but have an acre or more of land to live on.
Clavet is 25 kms east of Saskatoon and less than 500 residents. There is one school which is Kindergarten to Grade 12. There are only ever a handful of houses and acreages for sale in Clavet at any given time. Clavet, like most small towns in Saskatchewan, has a hockey rink. You will also find auto wreckers, construction companies, a café, grocery store, service station, and more.
Visit the Clavet real estate page for additional information on Clavet and the current market.
Colonsay is about a 35 minute drive from Saskatoon and has about 425 residents. They are home to the Colonsay and District Sports Centre which opened in 2006 which allows for year round skating ability for figure skaters, hockey teams and curlers alike. Colonsay is where you will find the Mosaic Potash Corporation which is one of its main economy boosters. Agriculture and livestock are also important aspects of their economy.
Visit the Colonsay real estate page for additional information on Colonsay.
Dundurn is only 20 minutes from Saskatoon but also only 5 minutes from Blackstrap Provincial Park and 20 minutes from the greatly acclaimed Dakota Dunes Golf Course and brand new casino. Recreation is big in this community of over 600 people with minor, recreational and senior hockey, figure skating, dance and soccer. Heritage is also an important part of this community with many character homes.
There is a great education program here with playschool (age 3-4), preschool (age 4-5) and Kindergarten to Grade 6 at the Dundurn Elementary School. From Grade 7-12 kids are bused further south to Hanley, which is only another 15 minutes away.
Dundurn has too many services to list here and housing is a bit easier to find than some of the smaller communities…they are building new acreages at Prairie Haven.
Visit the Dundurn real estate page for additional information on Dundurn along with new developments in and around the area.
