Central Business District
The Central Business District area is once again under development as the city is working towards revitalizing the CBD with several different projects, one of which is the River Landing Project. The Midtown Plaza, Saskatoon’s downtown enclosed shopping center, was opened in 1970. There is 2.3 million square feet of retail and restaurants in 7 million square feet of building development in this area that 3721 people call home. This area is just west of the South Saskatchewan River and was formerly just called “West Saskatoon”. It is also home to many heritage buildings that are still in regular use today.
