The Briarwood area is still under construction and is surrounded by other areas of new construction. Rosewood and Brookside are two new ones developing nearby. All of the street names in this area begin with a “B” which can make navigating a bit difficult, but it is unique to Saskatoon. It was first developed in the 1990’s. The nearest shopping is 8th Street and the newly developed shopping district in Lakewood. There are almost 1700 people who live in Briarwood. In the neighbouring communities are the Wildwood Golf Course, Lakewood Civic Centre, and the Lakewood Indoor Tennis Centre.
